The other day, our junior varsity baseball team went to a neighboring town to play a game. The baseball field is located next to a cemetery.
As our kids warmed up, they heard gun shots.
The sounds came from the cemetery. It was a funeral with military honors.
When our kids realized what was taking place, they, without any adult directive, lined up on the foul line and took their caps off as taps was played.
Others in the ballpark saw our kids and they, too, became respectfully silent.
Shots were fired … our kids responded with great dignity, maturity, and respect … way to go. We are so very proud of you.
