Mrs. Jean Embry, Principal Irvin Elementary

This is one in a series of blogs highlighting Midlothian ISD’s school principals.

Q: Why did you become an educator?

A: I have wanted to become an educator since the third grade. I had a wonderful teacher that really made me love school with her engaging lessons and compassion. She always asked me to help the other students in the class room and I loved that! Since that time I knew I wanted to be an educator.

Q: What’s the best thing about being a principal?

A: The best thing about being a principal is seeing students grow socially and academically, and watching teachers grow professionally.

Q: What’s really special about your school?

A: My faculty and staff are incredible! We are like a family at Irvin, not only with our faculty and staff but with our students as well. Our school is small enough that every student is every teacher’s student. We truly are the Little School with the Big Heart for each other, students, and parents.

Q: What’s the biggest challenge you face this school year?

A: Of course keeping the course with our exemplary rating is a great challenge each year, but our biggest challenge is keeping up with technology for the teacher and students.
