Midlothian ISD’s assistant principals participate in an Assistant Principal Academy. In the 2010-11 school year, there is one Academy session for the first semester and two sessions in the spring semester. One of the tasks in the first meeting was to answer three questions: (1) Why did you become an educator?, (2) What’s the best thing about being [an assistant] principal?, and (3) What’s really special about your school? Each Assistant Principal will be featured in a separate blog with the answers to the questions.
Mr. Kelly Johnson is an assistant principal at Midlothian High School.
Q: Why did you become an educator?
Because I love working with kids, teachers, and watching students grow into successful citizens.
Q: What’s the best thing about being [an assistant] principal?
The combination of taking what the students do and meshing it with what the teachers do in order to produce results which you have helped engineer.
Q: What’s really special about your school?
The people and the relationships that have evolved with such a wonderful community in my years of service at MHS.
