Midlothian Education Foundation Awards Grants

On Friday, December 9, 2011, the Midlothian Education Foundation (MEF) sent out its Star Patrol to deliver four, MEF-funded grants to Midlothian ISD faculty and staff.

MEF Board Members, MISD administrators, and the Midlothian High School Drum Line  boarded a school bus to head out to three Midlothian schools. The drum line provided an exhilarating escort to the grant winners’ classrooms. The MEF Board Members traveled to the classrooms and presented checks to surprised and appreciative teachers and staff.

The first trip was to Frank Seale Middle School where Robyn Crocker was presented a check for $4,831.68 for a project titled, “Sherlock Holmes Thinking.”

The second trip was to J. A. Vitovsky Elementary School where two checks were presented.

Jeanne Boniol, Rachel Dodson, Martha Lackey, and Kelly Polewchak received the first check ($4,734.35). Their project is titled, “‘I TOUCH,’ You Touch, We All Touch Reading.”

The second check  ($3,015.00) went to Julie Whitworth, Joni Nelson, Suzanne Brantley, Kyle Chambers, Lori Huff, Christine Homs, Marry Curry, and Rachel Anderson for their project, “Train Your Brain: Working Memory Workout.”

Irvin Elementary School was the third and final stop on the Star Patrol tour. The grant “Rosetta Stone Language Learning Lab” was awarded $5,000. The grant writers were Elizabeth Adkins, Ryan Timm, Jonathan Pollard, Christine Dobbins, Angela Greer, and Terry Moore.

Thank you MEF for your generous support of Midlothian ISD.
