The Senator presented Senate Proclamation No. 610 to Ms. Laura Truett, Pantherette Director, and each team member, on Thursday afternoon in the Auditorium.
The proclamation reads:
“WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the members of the Midlothian High School Pantherettes drill team for their outstanding benevolent and charitable service to the community; and
“WHEREAS, The Pantherettes have joined with members of the booster club to initiate numerous coordinated efforts to make a difference in the lives of others through philanthropy and volunteer work; and
“WHEREAS, In a laudable response to adversity and misfortune that has touched their lives, these young women have reached out to help others; their philanthropic efforts and focus on service toward the greater good have cheered many hearts and have also helped them move forward through difficult times; and
“WHEREAS, Among the many activities in which the Pantherettes have participated are preparing care packages for soldiers overseas, serving dinner at a community Veterans Day event, and packaging Thanksgiving meals for the needy; and
“WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that these young women be recognized for their initiative, their compassion, and their determination to overcome hardships by helping others; now, therefore, be it
“PROCLAIMED, That the Senate of the State of Texas hereby commend the members of the Midlothian High School Pantherettes drill team on their many achievements, their commitment to service, and their many good works and extend to them best wishes for continued success in all their future endeavors; an, be it
“PROCLAIMED, That a copy of this Proclamation be prepared for the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.”
