Naming High School #2

The Midlothian ISD (MISD) School Board of Trustees directed the Superintendent to begin the process to name High School #2. The process is outlined in Board Policy CW (LOCAL).

High School #2 Naming Committee

CW (LOCAL) states, in part, “… solicitation of recommendations of names shall be conducted through a committee composed of the following:

“1. One campus employee who resides within the District and who has been      elected by the employees at each campus.

“2. Two community representatives who reside within the District and have been selected by the District Education Improvement Committee. [See BQA]

“3. Two parent representatives who reside within the District and have been selected by the District Education Improvement Committee.”

Names for High School #2

CW (LOCAL) also states, “The committee shall be chaired by the Superintendent or designee. The committee shall submit to the Board no fewer than five and no more than ten recommended names for each campus or facility to be named.

“Nominations shall be submitted to the Board through the Superintendent. The supporting data shall include a succinct description of the nominee’s contributions, why these are important, and any pertinent history that should be considered. No more than three pages of supporting documentation shall be included for each nomination. The Board shall not consider petitions.”

Timeline

The District Education Improvement Committee (DEIC) has planned to select its two community and two parent representatives on November 1, 2012. The campus principals will have their committee members chosen by November 16, 2012.

The committee’s work is planned to be done no later than spring 2013. The Board should have names for its consideration in March or April 2013.
