“Mama, is she a princess?”

IMG_0689 - Version 2

At the Dallas Arboretum, young women pose for photographs in their quinceanera dresses.

Recently, at the Arboretum I overheard an exchange between a child and his mother after he saw a young lady in her special dress. He asked, “Mama, is she a princess?”

The mother replied, “Oh, no, she’s not a princess.”

Technically, the answer was correct.

But I just know the proud parents would beg to differ: their daughter is a princess … beautiful in dress and wrapped in precious family stories known only to them.

And on the first day of school, the parents of our kindergartners entrust to our care their princes and princesses. Each child is a member of a family that has great love and hope for its youngster.

In our jobs, educators are blessed to receive royalty.
