Mrs. Courtney Carpenter, Principal of T.E. Baxter Elementary School (Midlothian ISD), believes the same. “I came upon [the book] ‘One Word’ last spring and [I] immediately felt drawn to the impact it could have for the staff students, and community of T.E. Baxter Elementary. One Word is simple … it can inspire, cultivate, and drive us to seek excellence in ourselves and those around us. One Word CAN make a difference!”
Fifth graders at Baxter are embracing the one word concept. Simply put, a student thinks of a word that he/she believes, if practiced, would make a positive difference in his/her life. For example,”patience,” “focus,” “try” and “read” are words that some students have adopted as their one word.
Mrs. Anita Day, Assistant Principal Baxter Elementary School writes, “Our campus is excited for the possibilities of how living out our one word for the year will impact our individual lives, our campus, and our future!”
