Reign Of Error

Screen Shot 2013-10-06 at 7.53.54 PMDiane Ravitch, a critic of the current education reform movement, wrote the book, Reign of Error: The Hoax of the Privatization Movement and the Danger to America’s Public Schools.

Ravitch exposes the reform movement for what it is: “The money allocated to privately managed charters and vouchers represents a transfer of critical public resources to the private sector, causing public schools to suffer budget cuts and loss of staffing and services as the private sector grows, without providing better education or better outcomes for the students who transfer to the private-sector schools,” (p. 37).

The front book jacket hits hard: “In Reign of Error, Diane Ravitch argues that the crisis in American education is not a crisis of academic achievement but a concerted effort to destroy public schools in this country.”

It hits hard, but it’s right on.
