Now is the time to appoint a czar in charge of federal improper payments.
You might think that this person’s sole responsibility would be to put an end to all improper federal payments. Heavens no!
It seems that stopping improper payments may be impossible. In the 2014 fiscal year, federal improper payments totaled $124.7 billion. That’s real money! And its up from the 2013 fiscal year by almost $19 billion.
So, let’s put any pretense aside: Federal improper payments are not going away.
And if they are here to stay, then better management is in order.
I don’t know who is getting these improper payments, but my guess is that there is not an equitable distribution plan in place. Our czar would be responsible for the plan: equitable distribution of improper payments (eDIP).
It’s time that all Americans receive their fair share of improper payments, and my money is on a Federal Improper Payment Czar.
