Corruption In Texas Government That Harms School Districts

Corruption in government can take many forms. One form is when governments do not live by the same rules they create for their citizens.

An example at the federal level of the United States is Obamacare. Our senators and representatives voted themselves out of the system.

Legal? Questionable.

Corrupt? Yes.

A Texas example is taxation. The State created a school tax system that limits the amount of dollars districts collect when their tax bases grow, but that same system is not in place at the state level – as the State’s tax resources grow, so does its revenue … without limits.

Texas school finance reform should address this issue – it’s corruption that harms school districts.
